European Commission’s proposal for the new Renewable Energy Directive (RED) sets a favourable framework for biomethane.

On the 28th September, 2016 in Ghent (in conjunction with the biannual Biogas Conference of the European Biogas Association) ten members from eight European countries have agreed on setting-up the ERGaR aisbl.
The analytical work carried out in the frame of two EU projects provided the base for setting up ERGaR:
o Green Gas Grids (www.greengasgrids.eu) – an IEE project
o BIOSURF (www.biosurf.eu) – a Horizon 2020 project
